Web Content Management Systems
A web content management system (WCMS or Web CMS) is a web application
that helps you create and manage HTML content. Once installed, these
content management systems make it easier to maintain your website,
even if you are not really web savvy.
Content management systems usually use databases to store the
information. That's different from website builders like MS Frontpage
and Adobe Dreamweaver where the information is hard coded into HTML
files.
Joomla!
Most of the websites that I built for clients were built with Joomla!
Open source content management system. Joomla is relatively easy to
install, and there are many free templates available that can be
modified until they meet the customer's expectations.
Joomla is written in the PHP programming language and uses a MySQL database.
